Hen Parent application OverviewThere are 5 main things we need... Firstly & most importantly, we need your commitment to give the hens you adopt a forever home, egg or no egg, not to use them for breeding, not to sell, kill or give them away. Their forever home is with you. Photo of your hen coop and hen area - at the end of your application you will receive an automatic email (if the email you submitted is correct!) & we ask you to email us the same day & send these photos through to me. If we don't receive your photos then we can't finalise your application so please have them ready to send. How many hens or roosters you have living with you now Your hen story and other animals your new adopted hens will live with. Your experience (it's ok if you don't have any experience, we are here to help you) Your contact details including your name, address, email & mobile We will securely hold your details & will let you know when all rescues are happening first, before they are publicly posted. Adoption fees are currently $18 per hen. We all work voluntarily so this amount covers the cost to buy the hen from the battery egg farmer, transport, health-check & treatments (check & treatment if required of ear, eye, nose throat, feet & vent). Left over funds go to caring for the hens that came home to our Hen Hospital. We do our major annual adoption day in each location in August & October each year. At other times of the year we do rescue some small number of battery hens to adopt as well. Before you continue with this application please know what we expect from you as a Mother Clucker. These are EX battery hens. They need care like you would for a 2 year old for the first few weeks, till their legs & wings get stronger (they've lived their lives in a small wire cage), so we recommend nutrients & supplements to help them get stronger and for you to make sure your coop and run are ready for these girls to come live with you - they need a cosy secure area on the ground, no climbing up ramps or places where they might fall from. They will be strong in a very short time & ready to climb, but we want you to be prepared and willing to give them the care they need to become strong confident chookies! If you are willing, then please, let's give you the big thumbs up as a Mother Clucker!
