Chooky Introduction

Foreword from Julie, our Clucky Founder of this Charity.

Over the years since 2017, we have received more and more texts, emails, messenger, socials comments, carrier pidgeon, about their sick hens and how to help them, what is the best chookie set up, what do you feed your chooks at the Hen Village, how do I stop predators and so much more!

Your questions and concerns led me to creating this Chookie Care Guide.  Firstly because I couldn’t keep up with the number of enquiries and yes, I got cluckin frustrated with trying to keep up with the plethora of ways to communicate with each other now.  It was all taking my time away from doing what I do best, research, rescue, rehome, advocate for chookies everywhere.

It is now an ever growing ‘one stop’ place for everything you need to know about your chookies.  I have written this in a way to not ‘tell’ you what to do, as that’s not the way to learn – but to ‘educate’ you on ‘why’ and ‘what’ and ‘how’ to do all these things, based on our years of doing it for our many hundreds of hens and rooboys we rescue & care for.

The other reason for doing this Guide, is that I am frustrated with the amount of misinformation everywhere online where you get hundreds of opinions on what’s wrong with my hen, based on one condition (a sore eye, or hard crop) without any consideration of the ‘whole’ being.

As soon as we get a grant to do so, or enough funding from you wonderful hoomans, we will be creating this all online for you with AI so you can always go to this one place for all things CHOOKIE!
